Officer Programs

Field Training Officer Programs

The Middletown Township Police Department currently has six members who are specially trained as Field Training Officers or F.T.O.'s. These selected officers are assigned a new police officer who has just completed the police academy. The F. T. O. helps the new officer take the information and skills that they learned in the academy and now apply that knowledge to the every day world of life as a police officer. The new officer must successfully complete the 16 week Field Training Program before they can be released on their own to patrol the streets of our community. The F.T.O.'s also train the new officers on all the departmental rules and policies along with all of the township ordinances.

Traffic Safety Officers/Crash Scene Investigators

The Middletown Township Police Department has seven officers who received technical training in investigating traffic crashes that allows them to handle serious traffic problems and investigate serious and fatal traffic crashes. The officers also conduct special traffic enforcement and safety details.
