PennDOT Project - Route 1 and Route 213 Interchange

UPDATE - April 23, 2012

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP LANE RESTRICTIONS ON ROUTE 1 & ROUTE 213

As part of the $19.3 million project to reconstruct the Route 1 Bridge over Route 213 and the ramps at the Route 1/Route 213 Interchange in Middletown Township, Bucks County, the northbound Route 1 ramp to Route 213 will be closed Monday through Thursday (April 23-26) from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for conduit installation.

According to PennDOT, Route 1 motorists will also face intermittent traffic stoppages in both directions between Route 213 and Interstate 95 on Tuesday and Wednesday (April 24-25) from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. for conduit installation.

PennDOT’s contractor is installing conduit for Intelligent Transportation System components that are being added on Route 1 as part of the project to replace Route 1’s three-span, pre-stressed box beam bridge with a new single-span, pre-stressed concrete beam structure.  Crews are also rebuilding and realigning the Route 1 ramps to Route 213; resurfacing the roadway approaches and ramps; installing glare screens on the median barrier; erecting overhead sign structures; installing new signs, pavement markers and guide rail; and upgrading drainage systems.

The speed limit on Route 1 is reduced from 55 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour in the construction zone.
